Artist Bio

Caroline Borland

I have painted for as long as I can remember - it has always been my passion and I cannot imagine life without it.
My work varies quite widely in subject matter, media choices and style and I take inspiration from many sources, often from nature and my surroundings.
I am intrigued by the forces and cycles of nature; the patterns, beauty and science of it all, and am fascinated by our interaction as humans with our world - both creative and destructive.
When I'm not making art in one form or another, I can usually be found gardening, (spring/summer), or cooking and feeding folk, (autumn/winter). I also enjoy walking, although "dawdling" is probably a better description, as I constantly stop to look at the views all around, (or to examine and photograph or sketch the flora, fauna and other small-scale details of the path itself).
I was born in Yorkshire and am still at heart a Yorkshire lass, but I count myself extremely lucky to now live in Ayrshire on Scotland's west coast where I find a wealth of inspiration and from whence I can travel to such wonderful places as the Isle of Arran, wild glens & mountains, tranquil lochs or the bustle of Glasgow city within an hour. How lucky am I?
However, writing all this reminds me of how much there is to do and how time is ticking by so, sorry, must dash - things to do, pictures to paint, you know how it is ...
